Vermont’s Long Trail Brewing Company

Back in 1989, craft brewers were a rare breed. It was before the hype and the popularity soared, and when the soon-to-be trend-setters were getting established. That’s when Long Trail Brewing Company, then known as Mountain Brewers, took shape. The name, Long Trail, comes from the 273-mile hiking trail through the Green Mountains, and seems a fitting title for trailblazers.A glass of amber beer with a man's hand reaching for it.

Today, Long Trail Brewing Company is a bustling business, community leader, green advocate, and brewer of more than 20 beers. Its headquarters is in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont, about a 30-minute drive southwest of Maple Leaf Inn. Head there for a visit and you can enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner at Long Trail Brewing’s riverside pub too.

The restaurant, inspired by the Hofbräu House in Munich, has a down-home feel, perfect for hunkering down for a meal with a brew. The flagship pour here is the ever-popular Long Trail Ale®, a full-bodied amber ale. Several IPAs, pale ale, and a double altbier are year-round choices. Long Trail also brews specialty and seasonal beers, such as Trail Vision, its spring seasonal brew that’s nice and crisp with a touch of floral hints—just like a bright spring day.

While brewing beer is the main focus of Long Trail Brewing company, being a good community leader is part of its DNA. Partnering with non-profit organizations, the brewer hosts charitable events throughout the year, most notably, the Long Trail Century Ride, June 23, 2018, to benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports. In addition to functions like these, Long Trail hosts events at its pub, such as the up-coming Feel Good Friday party on March 30, a kind-of sign-off to this year’s ski season.
