Vermont provides lots of opportunities for dining:
Breakfast
We shall provide you with a sumptuous candle lit breakfast each day, served between 8:30 - 9:30 am in front of our fireplace in our cheerful dining room.
A typical breakfast consists of three courses - a first course of freshly baked scone, muffins or Danish pastry, followed by a fresh/cooked fruit course such as sauteed bananas with a lemon caramel sauce or perhaps fresh strawberries with creme' fraiche or a poached pear with raspberry sauce. Some mornings our entree' is a savory dish such as our Dijon egg puff or country sausage egg puff. Some mornings you may enjoy our sweeter offerings such as stuffed French toast (with Nancy's secret stuffing) or a croissant la' orange. Each breakfast is served with coffee, tea hot chocolate or hot cider as well as a selection of juice and entree's come with bacon ham or sausage as well.
Regrettably, we are unable to provide a custom-made different breakfast for each guest, however, if you have specific dietary restrictions or food allergies, please let us know at the time of your reservation and we shall try to accommodate your needs.

Dinner
We have a wonderful selection of restaurants in our area to suit every taste and pocketbook, or ask Nancy what’s cooking at the Inn! We suggest you consider some of these of our favorites in every category:
Casual
These restaurants generally do not require reservations (except during our peak seasons) and have a casual atmosphere. Casual clothing is generally acceptable. Typically meal costs are modest to moderate.
- Bentley's - located in downtown Woodstock is a landmark which set the standard for casual dining in our area. Entertainment is provided on most Friday and Saturday evenings.
- The Eagle Cafe - the coffee shop located in the elegant Woodstock Inn in the center of Woodstock is a place for good food in a quiet setting. Check out their 'Early Bird Specials' for a great value.
- The Tavern - located in the back of the Barnard Inn just down the street from the Maple Leaf Inn is our favorite local spot. Small in size but huge in cozy atmosphere and wonderful food.
- Firestones - on Route 4 in Quechee, Vermont - just a few minutes away. Closest thing we have to a sports bar plus great food - you should see the terrific wood fired oven right in the center of the restaurant. Entertainment on weekends.
We also have great custom made deli sandwiches and pizza available close by (sorry, no delivery) at the Barnard General Store or the Pizza Chef or Village Pizza. We will be happy to offer you plates, silverware and napkins if you decide to 'dine in' some evening.
Elegant
We consider these restaurants to be just a little nicer in ambience than our casual restaurants. The food selections are more varied and innovation - great places for quiet, elegant dining. The prices are in the moderate range and you should plan on suitable attire - not jeans and sneakers. Some of our favorites are:
- Kedron Valley Inn - a wonderful historic building located in South Woodstock, Vermont. This place looks and feels just the way you always thought a Vermont country inn should.
- Eastender - a flexible menu including fresh seafood, juicy hamburgers, and filet mignon all served in a Vermont casual atmosphere. A full bar and wine list as well as outdoor terrace dining are available.
- The Lincoln Inn - a traditional New England inn with an international flair provided by the Swiss chef/owner.
- Parker House - great food in a beautiful Victorian building on the banks of the Ottaquechee River in the center of the village of Quechee.
Fine Dining
If you are looking for a special place with exceptional food and the most romantic atmosphere, try one of these. You should plan to dress appropriately - nice casual or better. Prices are moderate to expensive. Some of our favorites are:
- The Barnard Inn - our personal favorite for Janet's birthday or our anniversary. It is located just down the street.
- Prince & Pauper - another wonderful long-established restaurant in the heart of Woodstock, Vermont. If you are considering something lighter, try their Bistro menu.
- Simon Pearce - who would expect to find a world class restaurant in a glass blowing factory! Call early - it's the most difficult reservation in town. Arrive early to watch the glass blowing demonstrations and shop in the factory store.
- Woodstock Inn Dining Room - One of the most elegant restaurants you will find. Have you stepped back in time to a more gracious era?
- Hemingway's - our highest rated restaurant - with the best wine cellar in the state. A few minutes drive west on Route 4, but worth the drive.
- Jackson House - a very formal dining experience in a beautiful setting on the western edge of Woodstock, Vermont.
